The success of a dimension stone quarry project depends on the accurate estimation of the quantity and quality of a reserve, based on decoration criteria (color, features of ingredients), the physical and mechanical properties of the rock and its geological characteristics (discontinuities). Being aware of all these conditions and taking into consideration all these special features, TSS UNDERGROUND can conduct organize and manage geological surveys and mineral exploration programs of prospective quarry sites and evaluate stone resources. Combining our scientific knowledge with innovative exploration techniques and specialized geological software, we provide accurate and precise reserve estimations in the most cost-effective way. Regarding to the geological survey and mineral exploration field, our company provides the following services:
- Geological Mapping
- 3D Photogrammetric Techniques
- Drill Core Logging & Analysis Of Drill Hole Data
- Geophysical Survey
- Optical Borehole Televiewer
- Geochemical Survey
- 3D Geological Modelling & Resource Estimation
- Statistical Analysis of Discontinuities
- Block Volume Estimation
The geology of the area consists of ultramafic rock and thick nappe pile of alluvial laterite formations. The host mass of the magnesite ore, which was detected inside the major faults, consists of serpentinite, peridotite and dunite. The general shape of the ore is platy-tabular with narrow to intermediate thickness. The main mining method that is adopted is the room & pillar method that is combined with open stope and cut & fill mining methods. The excavation method involves mainly drill & blasting and rarely relies on mechanized excavation. The yearly magnesite production is 70,000 tons and the total length of access tunnels is currently 800 meters.

The ore “Kleisoura” is located in the upper bauxite zone of Parnasos-Giona near the city of Amfisa. The ores “Nera 4 and Mantri-Tsakni” are close to each other and are located in the 3d bauxite horizon of the Parnasos-Giona zone. In general, all ore deposits are located between breccias and thick-bedded limestone. The open stope mining method was adopted for all mines. The overall production of bauxite was 130,000 tons and the total length of the access tunnels was 720 meters. The excavation included drill & blasting and mechanized excavation.

The orebody is owned by Delphi-Distomon SA, which exploits the upper bauxite horizon of the Parnassos-Gionas zone. In general, the ore is located between breccias and thick-bedded limestone. The ore is accessed by tunnels and the room & pillar mining method was adopted inside the ore deposit. The project involved the development of inclined access tunnels with a total length of 500 meters. The excavation process included the following work cycle: Drill & blast – Ventilation – Loading & Hauling – Removal of Unstable Material – Loading & Hauling.
